Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  • Combine sugar, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan.
  • Stir constantly over medium heat.
  • Bring mixture to a boil.
  • Attach a candy thermometer to the saucepan.
  • Cook until mixture reaches 234°F (soft ball stage).
  • Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla, and salt.
  • Beat the mixture until it thickens.
  • Pour into prepared pan.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.

  2. Stir constantly to avoid burning.
  3. Let the mixture cool slightly before beating.
  4. Cut fudge with a sharp knife for clean edges.
