Large bowl
Measuring Cups
Rubber spatula
- 1.5 cups UNSALTED BUTTER
- 2 cups GRANULATED SUGAR
- 4 LARGE EGGS
- 2 tsp VANILLA EXTRACT
- 3 cups ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
- 1 tbsp BAKING POWDER
- 0.5 tsp SALT
- 1 cup WHOLE MILK
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees now. Grease your cake pans with a little butter. Place parchment paper inside the pans carefully.
Whisk the flour and baking powder together. Add the salt to the dry mix too. Set this bowl aside for a moment.
Beat the butter and sugar together now. Use your electric mixer on medium speed. The mix should look pale and fluffy.
Add the eggs to the mix one by one. Mix well after you add each egg. Pour in the vanilla extract at the end.
Add the dry flour mix and milk. Start with a little bit of flour. Then add a little bit of milk. Finish with the last of the flour.
Divide the batter into the two pans. Smooth the tops with your rubber spatula. Make sure the pans are even.
Place the pans in the hot oven. Bake them for about thirty-five minutes. A toothpick should come out very clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans. After ten minutes, move them to a rack. Wait until they are completely cold.
- Use room temperature eggs for a smoother batter.
- Do not overmix the batter after adding flour.
- Measure your flour using a spoon and level.
- Always grease the sides of your pans well.
- Check the oven temperature with a separate thermometer.
- Let the cake cool before you add frosting.
- Use fresh baking powder for the best rise.
