Measuring Spoons
- 4 lbs SWEET APPLES
- 1/2 cup WATER
- 2 tbsp GRANULATED SUGAR
- 1 tbsp FRESH LEMON JUICE
- 1/2 tsp GROUND CINNAMON
- 1 pinch SALT
Peel and core all of your sweet apples. Slice them into small and even pieces for cooking. This helps them soften at the same time.
Place the apple slices in your large heavy pot. Add the water and the fresh lemon juice now. This starts the cooking process for the fruit.
Turn the stove to medium-high heat right now. Bring the liquid to a very gentle boil quickly. Stir the pot so the apples do not stick.
Lower the heat and cover the large pot. Let the apples simmer for about twenty minutes total. They should be very soft when poked with forks.
Stir in the sugar and the ground cinnamon. Use your potato masher to crush the soft fruit. You can leave some chunks for a rustic feel.
Remove the pot from the hot stove now. Let the sauce cool down before you eat it. Serve it warm or chill it in the fridge.
