Preheat the oven to 350°F, grease a baking dish.
Combine dates and baking soda. Pour boiling water, and wait 15 minutes.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
Add dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with date mix.
Pour batter into the dish, and bake for 30-40 minutes until the toothpick is clean.
Prepare toffee sauce: combine cream, butter, sugar, and vanilla. Cook until thick.
Poke holes in the baked pudding, and pour half of the toffee sauce.
Serve warm, drizzle with more toffee sauce. Enjoy your dessert!
